All students in 10th grade & below are eligible to take both the AMC 10 and the AMC 12.  If such students take the form A contest at your school on Feb. 10th, they are welcome to take the form B contest at Wake Forest on Feb. 25th.  Interested middle school students are also invited.

Please contact me, by email or phone, if any of your students would like to take the AMC contests at Wake Forest University.  We will waive the registration fee for small groups of students who would like to participate.

Additional Information:

Welcome to AMC 10/12 B at Wake Forest University. Here is additional information you need on the day of contests: Wed. Feb. 25, 2009

  • Registration:  1:00-1:25 pm Manchester 336
  • Contests: 1:30 -2:45 pm  Kirby B02
  • After contest math talk and award ceremony: 3:15-4:15 pm Manchester 020

1. I hope you will be able to get to the campus of Wake Forest University easily.

2. After you are on campus, you may wish to find a parking place somewhere:

It might be difficult to find a parking spot near Manchester Hall. The rule is that you can park in any parking lot as long as the space is not reserved for facilities, handicapped, police, or fire lane. You can use faculty parking, commuter parking, or student parking. It is unlikely that you will get a ticket, if you do, be sure to turn it in to me.

3. Manchester Hall is located in the middle of the campus. It is building 20 on this outdated map: marked Calloway/Kirby Hall. Calloway Hall was just re-named Manchester Hall.
If you arrive close to 1:15 pm, you may wish to drop your student at the building first - there is a U shaped driveway on the side of the building.

4. The registration place is on the 3rd floor. Room 336. Please arrive before 1:25 to fill out the registration form.

5. The contest room is in the adjacent building: Kirby Hall B02.

6. In the math talk, David Wilson will tell us his ten favorite problems in Room Manchester 020 followed by a short ceremony.

7. Lunch, if you arrive early, there are a couple of good places for lunch: the Pitt in Reynalda Hall has lunch buffet for $8. There is a Subway on the quad, near the Wachovia bank. The contest is free of charge.

8. Bring No. 2 pencils, ruler, compass, and protractor. Graph paper and Scratch paper will be provided. Calculators are not allowed.

9.  I recommend parents or teachers pick up students on the first floor of Manchester Hall after the math talk.

If you have any question, send me an email or call me at 336 758 595.
